Eleven state chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have pledged to secure a combined total of 15.2 million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027, demonstrating robust regional support and strategic mobilisation efforts across Nigeria.
In the North Central zone, the APC Forum has committed to delivering six million votes, expressing gratitude for President Tinubu’s decision to reinstate the party Ascertainparty’s national chairmanship to the region. This pledge follows the appointment of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, a native of Plateau, one of the six North Central states (Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau), as the new APC National Chairman on Thursday. Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, affirmed the region’s unwavering support, stating, “The North Central zone is fully committed to President Tinubu’s re-election. We guarantee six million votes in 2027, ensuring the region’s strong backing.”
In Akwa Ibom, the APC has set an ambitious target of securing 3.5 million votes, aiming to triple the number of votes President Tinubu received in the 2023 election. The state party spokesperson expressed confidence, noting, “Following the ongoing voter registration drive, we anticipate securing no fewer than 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu’s re-election.”
In Edo, APC Publicity Secretary Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie announced that Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged to deliver 2.5 million votes. He highlighted the party’s growing strength, stating, “With significant defections from other parties and an expanding membership base, we expect our numbers to quadruple, effectively diminishing the presence of opposition parties in the state.”
The Benue APC aims to recruit five million members and has committed to securing two million votes for President Tinubu in 2027. James Orngunga, the state APC spokesperson, remarked, “We will exceed our 2023 performance, which was impacted by the Muslim-Muslim ticket controversy. The President’s support for our region has shifted the narrative, positioning him for a substantial victory margin.”
In the South-West, the Oyo and Ekiti APC chapters have collectively pledged 1.2 million votes. Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC’s spokesperson, outlined their goal to secure over 800,000 votes, doubling the state’s 2023 contribution. He noted, “We are intensifying our mobilisation efforts through door-to-door campaigns, media engagement, and social platforms, targeting a membership of 220,000 to 250,000.”
In Ekiti, where President Tinubu garnered 201,494 votes in 2023, APC spokesperson Segun Dipe expressed confidence in significantly increasing this figure. He stated, “We are poised to deliver at least 400,000 votes in 2027, bolstered by the President’s achievements and Governor Oyebanji’s effective governance.”
These commitments reflect a strategic and coordinated effort by the APC to strengthen its voter base and ensure a strong electoral performance for President Tinubu in 2027.
