Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Tuesday made a public overture to his Adamawa State counterpart, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, urging him to consider joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Yola during a political engagement, Governor Sule openly suggested that Governor Fintiri shares the same political ideology as the ruling party, describing him as a natural fit for the APC.

“You have the APC in your DNA. We are on the same page with you,” Sule said, drawing laughter and applause from the audience. In a symbolic gesture, he added that he had come prepared with a signature “Tinubu infinity cap” should Fintiri decide to make the switch.

“I even brought a Tinubu infinity cap in case you’re thinking of joining the APC,” Sule remarked, referencing President Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader.

The comment has since sparked political reactions across Adamawa State, where Governor Fintiri is a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While the Adamawa governor did not immediately respond to the remarks, the exchange has fuelled speculation about possible realignments ahead of future political contests.

The APC has, in recent months, intensified efforts to woo influential opposition figures, as part of a broader strategy to consolidate its political foothold across states currently governed by rival parties.

Observers say Sule’s comments, though light-hearted, reflect growing behind-the-scenes manoeuvring within Nigeria’s political landscape as parties position themselves for upcoming elections.
