U.S. President Donald Trump has lashed out at the 2026 Grammy Awards, labeling the ceremony “unwatchable” and threatening to sue host Trevor Noah over a joke linking him to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In a series of scathing posts on Truth Social, the President characterized the awards show as “the worst” and directed much of his ire toward Noah. He dismissed the comedian as a “total loser” and argued that his remarks should have been subject to immediate fact-checking.
The controversy erupted during the presentation of the Song of the Year award to Billie Eilish. Noah, while addressing the audience, quipped: “Song of the Year—that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone; he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
President Trump swiftly rejected the implication, describing the remark as “false and defamatory.” While noting that he could not speak for former President Bill Clinton, Trump insisted he has never visited Epstein’s private island or any location related to it.
He further claimed that such an accusation had never been leveled against him before, “not even by the mainstream media,” and argued that the joke crossed a legal line into defamation.
Vowing to seek “major damages,” the President stated he would instruct his legal team to pursue Noah. He also referenced his past legal battles with media figures, specifically mentioning a previous victory involving ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, and suggested that CBS, the network that aired the Grammys, could expect a similar outcome.
Trump concluded his post with a warning that he intended to “have some fun” with the late-night host in court.
The President’s outburst has reignited online debate regarding his historical association with Epstein. Despite renewed public scrutiny driven by recent document releases, Trump has consistently and categorically denied any involvement in Epstein’s illegal activities.
