The national chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned that aspirants who disrupt the party’s primary elections risk immediate suspension.

Yilwatda issued the warning while addressing party aspirants who recently underwent screening exercises conducted by various APC committees, signalling a tougher stance against internal unrest ahead of key political contests.

“The party will not tolerate actions capable of undermining the credibility of its primaries,” he said, stressing the need for discipline and adherence to party procedures.

The remarks come amid growing tensions within Nigeria’s political parties, where disputes over candidate selection and allegations of manipulation have often triggered protests, litigation and defections.

Political observers say the APC leadership appears determined to project unity and enforce stricter internal controls as preparations intensify for upcoming elections across the country.
