Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to stamp out banditry and restore lasting peace across the state.

Speaking on Wednesday while declaring open the 9th regular meeting of the State Executive Council at Government House, Sokoto, Aliyu said security remains his top priority. He noted that his government has continued to provide logistics and other essential support to security agencies in their efforts to combat criminality, particularly in the most affected local government areas.

“We have introduced new strategies which, by Allah’s will, will help us bring an end to banditry in Sokoto State,” the governor assured.

Aliyu described insecurity as a crippling threat to socio-economic life in several communities but urged residents to join hands with government in the collective fight against crime.

Turning to governance, he directed commissioners to carry out regular inspections of contracts under their ministries to ensure projects are executed to the highest standard.

“By doing so, you will be able to assess the quality of work being delivered by contractors. We will not accept substandard projects or unnecessary delays. Standards must never be compromised,” he warned.

The governor stressed that the people of Sokoto, who overwhelmingly voted for the All Progressives Congress, deserve nothing less than quality infrastructure and sustainable development.

He expressed gratitude to residents for their continued support and prayers, promising to deliver tangible dividends of democracy across every part of the state.
