Dr Patience Akpabio, an in-law to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has announced her ambition to contest the Akwa Ibom North West Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.
Making the declaration on Facebook, she introduced herself as the “incoming distinguished Senator, Akwa Ibom North West, come 2027 whether they like it or yes,” insisting she was already “duly elected” ahead of the polls.
Pat Akpabio, wife of politician Ibanga Akpabio, is also recognised for her role as an evangelist.
The Akwa Ibom North West district has long been an Akpabio family stronghold. Notably, Mr Akpabio lost the seat in 2019 to Dr Chris Ekpenyong before reclaiming it in 2023.
