The coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu has officially abandoned the yet-to-be-registered All Democratic Alliance (ADA) and instead thrown its weight behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Bolaji Abdullahi, the coalition’s National Publicity Secretary, disclosed during a meeting in Abuja on Thursday that party leaders resolved to disassociate from ADA, signaling a strategic realignment. In a bold move, the ADC has called on prominent members such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Nasir El-Rufai of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Senator Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resign from their respective parties and fully commit to the ADC. Attendees at the meeting included notable figures such as National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and former governors Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, and Chibuike Amaechi. Abdullahi announced that the coalition has conclusively opted out of the ADA’s registration process and that all presidential aspirants within the ADC have pledged to support the eventual winner of the party’s primaries. The National Working Committee is also set to release dates for upcoming primaries in Osun and Ekiti states ahead of their off-cycle governorship elections.
