Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has declared that the zoning of the state’s governorship seat among the three senatorial districts has now been firmly entrenched and must guide future elections.
Speaking on Saturday at Abatete during an endorsement rally for his candidacy under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo stressed that the zoning arrangement is a political reality that has become part of Anambra’s governance structure.
The governor, who represents the Southern Senatorial District, reminded supporters that the North had occupied the office for eight years before the South took over in 2021. According to him, the baton will naturally pass to the Central District once his tenure concludes.
He said, “Following this term, the Central Senatorial District will have the opportunity to govern for the next eight years.”
The event also doubled as a homecoming for former All Progressives Congress chieftain, Ifeanyi Ibezi, who officially rejoined APGA. Soludo welcomed him warmly, describing the party as the natural political home for Ndi Anambra.
He added, “APGA serves as the umbrella for all progressives in Anambra. In fact, Anambra is synonymous with APGA, and APGA is synonymous with Anambra.”

Soludo noted that the campaign had grown into a grassroots movement, with communities funding and organising endorsement rallies on their own. He expressed optimism that APGA would win overwhelmingly across the state’s 5,720 polling units and 326 wards.
The governor also challenged residents of Idemili North Local Government Area—home to the state’s largest voting population but historically low turnout—to prove their electoral strength in the November 8 governorship election.
He assured them that his administration had already initiated key projects in the area, including smart schools and recruitment of teachers, and pledged further development if re-elected.
Secretary to the State Government, Solo Chukwulobelu, highlighted Soludo’s infrastructure and education reforms, expressing confidence that the governor’s record would deliver victory.
National Chairman of APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, and the State Chairman, Ifeatu Obiokoye, both praised Ibezi’s return, describing it as a sign of growing unity within the party.
Other top figures present—Commissioner for Works Ifeanyi Okoma, Commissioner for Information Law Mefor, Nelson Omenugha, and local government chairmen Stanley Nkwoka (Idemili North) and Amaka Obi (Idemili South)pledged total support for Soludo’s re-election.
