Nigeria’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 presidential election.

The announcement was made on Monday in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

Abdullahi described the Atiku-Amaechi partnership as a “unity and rescue ticket”, saying the alliance reflects the party’s determination to confront Nigeria’s deepening economic, security and governance challenges.

According to the statement, the ticket brings together experienced political leaders with the capacity to unite the country and provide what the ADC called credible leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.

The announcement marks a significant development in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape as parties begin positioning themselves for what is expected to be a fiercely contested presidential race.
