Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly criticised President Bola Tinubu for vacationing abroad as insecurity worsens across Nigeria.

Over the recent weekend, 102 Nigerians lost their lives in violent attacks by bandits in Borno, Edo, Katsina, and Sokoto states, according to Abdullahi’s statement posted on his official X handle on Monday.

Addressing the president directly, Abdullahi wrote, “Dear Mr. President, while you are away enjoying your well-deserved vacation, this weekend, 102 Nigerians were killed in Borno, Edo, Katsina and Sokoto.”

He added a sharp rebuke, stating, “Of course, this is just a minor inconvenience nothing worth cutting your trip short over. Sorry to disturb you, Sir.”

This criticism comes amid growing public concern and frustration over what many perceive as the federal government’s inadequate response to the country’s escalating security challenges. Communities in both northern and southern Nigeria continue to plead for urgent government intervention.

President Tinubu travelled abroad on a private visit and has yet to issue any public comments regarding the recent surge in violence.

Human rights advocates and opposition groups have increasingly accused the administration of neglecting national security priorities despite earlier commitments to tackle the crisis.
