ABUJA – Just seven months after his retirement from Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), former vice-president David Abioye is set to launch his own Sunday morning services on May 4th.
Abioye, who retired alongside Thomas Aremu in October 2024 following Winners Chapel’s new administrative policy setting a mandatory retirement age of 55 for leaders, had previously been conducting non-denominational evening fellowships. At the time of retirement, Aremu was 67 and Abioye was 63. The new policy also limited future leaders to a maximum of two seven-year terms, subject to Board of Trustees approval.
Speaking at the close of his evening service on April 27th, Abioye announced the shift to Sunday mornings, with services commencing at 8 am. “Very important information. From next Sunday by the grace of God, our service is migrating to morning. Hallelujah. And the time is 8 am. God bless you mightily in Jesus’ name,” he declared.
Abioye has previously stated that his new ministry was born out of a divine calling, not personal ambition. He has also encouraged his followers to prioritize personal spiritual growth as the bedrock for collective renewal.
