A Venezuelan man was arrested near the White House on Thursday night after Secret Service officers found three firearms and ammunition in his vehicle, US officials said.

The suspect, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, allegedly told officers that he had heard voices urging him to travel to Washington and kill President Donald Trump, according to a Department of Homeland Security statement.

Secret Service officers approached Chrinos after seeing him acting suspiciously in a parked car. They later discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen and found three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition inside, the statement said.

Chrinos has been charged and remains in the custody of the US Marshals Service, officials said. The Department of Homeland Security described him as a Venezuelan national who entered the United States through Texas in March 2024 and is in the country unlawfully.

“Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said.

The arrest comes amid a series of cases involving people accused of threatening Trump or members of his family since he returned to office.
