Trump said a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner won’t stop him from pressing ahead with the war in Iran. He told reporters he doesn’t think the two things are connected.
“It’s not going to deter me from winning the war in Iran. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” Trump said in a White House briefing right after the incident.
Still, he’d said earlier that you never know. He described the shooter as a lone wolf and added that investigators were working to figure out the motive.
The same day, Trump scrapped a planned trip by his envoys to Pakistan. They were supposed to hold peace talks with Iran. He wasn’t impressed with Tehran’s position after nearly two months of fighting.
