The Nigerian military has announced the neutralisation of 15 terrorists in a precision air strike north-west of Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, as troops sustain intelligence-led offensives against insurgents in the North-East.

The operation was carried out at about 11:50 p.m. on Friday, following intelligence reports and confirmed sightings of terrorist movements in the area, according to the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI.

In a statement, Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer at the headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, said the air strike was followed by ground operations to assess the area and consolidate the gains.

He described the operation as part of the military’s sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist movements, weaken their operational capabilities and deny insurgent groups freedom of action across the theatre.

Goni said the successful engagement demonstrated the importance of intelligence-driven targeting and coordinated military operations in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and insurgency in the North-East.

According to him, troops continue to maintain an offensive posture through intelligence gathering and the coordinated deployment of available military resources to disrupt terrorist activities and improve security in affected communities.

He added that Operation HADIN KAI remained committed to defeating terrorism and insurgency, protecting law-abiding citizens and creating conditions for the restoration of normalcy and socio-economic activities in communities affected by insecurity.

The military also urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities.

It said sustained collaboration between troops and civilians remained crucial to consolidating operational gains and achieving lasting peace and security across the North-East.

The latest reported strike forms part of the military’s ongoing campaign against terrorist groups operating in Borno and other parts of the region.

However, the military statement did not identify the group to which the 15 individuals allegedly belonged or provide further details about their identities.

Operation HADIN KAI said troops would continue ongoing operations with vigilance, determination and professionalism.
