Demola Olarewaju, the Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu of plagiarizing his principal’s policy on petrol pricing and subsidy.

Olarewaju’s statement follows the announcement by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, regarding a 30-day fuel price discount at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlets.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Olarewaju suggested that President Tinubu should acknowledge Atiku’s influence on the policy, while insisting that the President should vacate the Presidential Villa in 2027.

“We should thank Atiku for giving Bola permission to steal the petrol pricing subsidy idea and put his own name on it, as they have now shamelessly done,” Olarewaju wrote.

“We don’t need their thanks, I’m sure. They should just vacate Aso Rock peacefully by next year, provided Nigerians vote wisely.”

The aide further taunted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) members, stating: “Any true APC member must reject this petrol price manipulation and insist on paying escalating prices instead, just to show ideological commitment to nonsense and emphasize your lifelong covenant with misery and suffering.”

Reflecting on the political implications, Olarewaju added, “Moments like these are rare in a campaign, and we must enjoy it—Atiku has been vindicated within just a few months. The hitherto wicked and uncaring disposition of Aso Rock is now on full display for all Nigerians to see.

“We must enjoy this evening, for Atiku and 2027. From the moment Atiku proposed this policy, Tinubu became so jittery that he resorted to name-calling during Governor Adeleke’s visit.

“‘Bring back subsidy fully or Nigerians will vote you out’ is the next thing Tinubu should do.”
