The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the publication of the personal particulars and credentials of candidates for the 2027 general election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vindicated its position and put to rest speculations surrounding its participation in the presidential race.

In a statement on Sunday, the party said the appearance of its candidates on INEC’s official list was clear evidence that the PDP remained a formidable force ahead of the 2027 elections, despite months of political uncertainty and claims by critics that the party would struggle to field candidates.

According to the PDP, the development has effectively silenced those who had questioned its preparedness and legitimacy, insisting that recent events have reaffirmed the party’s resilience and internal cohesion.

The party maintained that it had consistently assured its members and supporters that it would overcome internal challenges and remain firmly on course to contest the 2027 elections.

“The publication of our candidates’ details by INEC vindicates our position and exposes the false narratives peddled by those who sought to undermine the party,” the statement said.

The PDP urged its supporters across the country to remain united and focused, describing the release of the candidates’ list as the beginning of what it called a renewed drive to reclaim leadership at the national level.

The party also reiterated its commitment to providing what it described as credible leadership, promising to intensify consultations and grassroots mobilisation as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.

INEC had earlier published the personal particulars and credentials of candidates nominated by political parties for the 2027 presidential election, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, allowing members of the public to scrutinise the documents before the commencement of campaigns.
