Lawal Keeps Deputy as 2027 Running Mate

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has confirmed that his deputy, Mani Malam Mummuni, will remain his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, ending speculation over a possible change to the state’s leadership ticket.

Governor Lawal formally conveyed the decision to Mummuni during a meeting at the Government House in Gusau, describing the deputy governor as a loyal, dependable and committed partner whose contributions have been central to the administration’s achievements.

The governor said the successes recorded in infrastructure, governance and public service delivery were the result of teamwork, adding that retaining his deputy reflected confidence in the administration’s shared vision for Zamfara’s future.

Responding, Mummuni expressed gratitude for the renewed confidence, pledging to remain steadfast in supporting the governor’s agenda and to continue working towards delivering development and improved governance for the people of the state.

The announcement is expected to strengthen political stability within the administration as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum in Zamfara.
