Peter Obi has declared that he would serve only a single term if elected president, arguing that political stability and effective governance should take precedence over the length of time spent in office.
Speaking on his vision for leadership, Obi said he would not remain in office beyond four years under any circumstance, insisting that the focus of any administration should be on delivering measurable results rather than extending political tenure.
“I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day longer than four years,” he said, stressing that leadership should be defined by impact and performance rather than longevity.
The former presidential candidate also took aim at the current state of public borrowing, expressing concerns over Nigeria’s debt profile. Obi argued that the present administration had accumulated substantial debt within a relatively short period, raising questions about fiscal management and long-term economic sustainability.
His remarks are expected to further fuel debates around governance, public spending and the role of leadership accountability in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
