The Bauchi Progressive Vanguards has issued a note of warning to individuals and oppositions group in and outside Bauchi state to desist from embarking on media campaign aimed at creating falsehood and campaign of calumny against the political career of Distinguished Senator Shehu Buba.
Coordinator of the Bauchi Progressive Vanguards (BPV) Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa in a statement in Jos on Tuesday noted that the spurious accusations levelled against Shehu Buba, the incumbent senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District in Bauchi State is purely a political falsehood created to tarnish his image and political strength in Bauchi State.
“More so, these renewed accusations on his alleged involvement in banditry is coming after he declared his intention to vie for the gubernatorial seat of Bauchi State come 2027 and with the strength of his grassroot support and acceptance by millions of voters in the State, his opponents find this unfounded allegation to reduce his momentum and destroy his political ambition seeing the crowd he pulled during the declaration.
“Let me assured you that Senator Buba has built a flourishing political career so formidable that no amount of campaign of calumni can tarnish his hard-earned image in Bauchi state and Nigeria at large.
“Already, his political associates and well meaning individuals from Bauchi State have come out to set the record straight and debunked the allegations”
“On his part, the distinguished senator has resolved to report this to relevant authorities for investigation including legal actions against those pedalling these allegations. He urged his supporters to remain calm and steadfast in their will as the truth shall prevail over lies”
It could be recalled that a report has emanated in the media of an alleged peace deal between Senator Buba with wanted terror kingpin, Bello Turji. An allegations of fuelling religious tensions in Plateau State, and past claims of sponsoring wanted bandits to the Hajj pilgrimage.
The media report came shortly after the senator declared his intentions to contest for the governorship of Bauchi state in 2027 under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC)
