Iran has reportedly established a deep резерв of military leadership, assigning multiple replacements for key command roles amid growing fears of targeted assassinations, according to the semi-official Fars News Agency.
The contingency plan ensures that as many as seven individuals are designated to immediately step into each critical military position if current commanders are killed, reflecting heightened concerns over ongoing attacks on Iran’s security leadership.
The move is part of a broader strategy developed in response to a wave of assassinations and air strikes targeting senior Iranian officials, which authorities say will not disrupt the country’s operational capacity.
Iranian officials insist that “there has been no disruption, and there will not be any” in sensitive military and security functions, citing layered succession planning designed to maintain continuity even in worst-case scenarios.
The policy draws from lessons learned during past conflicts, including the Iran-Iraq war, where redundancy in command structures proved critical to sustaining military operations under pressure.
The development comes as tensions escalate in the region, with repeated strikes reportedly killing high-ranking commanders and exposing vulnerabilities within Iran’s security apparatus.
Analysts say the strategy signals Tehran’s expectation of continued targeted attacks, while underscoring its determination to preserve command stability and avoid leadership vacuums in the midst of an intensifying conflict.
