Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has hit back at claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate regarding the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), describing their statements as “detached from reality.”
Responding to the candidate’s assertion that “AMAC is not Obio-Akpor,” Wike said he deliberately refrained from engaging the media until the conclusion of the election. He added that while it is easy for politicians to make bold statements on television, the realities on the ground often tell a different story.
Wike also addressed questions about his presence at various polling units on election day, insisting that his movements were intended to ensure transparency and proper conduct during the voting process. “Reality has dawned on them,” he said, emphasizing that claims made for political point-scoring should not distort public perception.
Political analysts note that the exchange underscores the high stakes in the FCT polls, where candidates are closely scrutinized, and every statement can influence voter sentiment.
