Abuja, Nigeria — Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as unprecedented federal support to states, saying the assistance has helped many governors run their administrations without resorting to loans.

Speaking on Monday, Sani said no previous Nigerian president had backed sub-national governments to the same extent, adding that the current fiscal environment has eased financial pressure on states.

“No president in the history of Nigeria has supported states like President Tinubu. That is why today some of us are running our states without taking loans,” the governor said.

He added that governors across the country are now better positioned to meet their obligations and fund development projects, crediting Tinubu’s economic policies and revenue reforms for improving state finances.

Sani’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over fiscal sustainability and the impact of federal reforms on Nigeria’s states, with several governors reporting improved cash flow following recent policy changes.
