Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has returned to training following a period of mourning after a car crash claimed the lives of two of his close friends, raising fresh speculation about an eventual return to the ring.
Images and reports of Joshua back in the gym have emerged weeks after the fatal accident, signalling a tentative step towards normalcy for the British boxer as he continues to process the personal tragedy.
While Joshua has remained largely silent publicly, his promoter has indicated that the 35-year-old is not ruling out a comeback, suggesting the former champion still harbours ambitions in the sport.
“Anthony is taking things one step at a time,” his promoter said, adding that the boxer’s focus is currently on regaining physical rhythm and emotional balance rather than rushing back into competition.
Joshua, a two-time unified heavyweight champion, has endured a challenging period both inside and outside the ring in recent years, including high-profile defeats and questions over his future in boxing. The recent loss of close friends has further compounded that difficult chapter.
However, those close to the fighter say his return to training reflects resilience and a desire to move forward, even as he continues to grieve.
No timeline has been announced for a possible fight, but the renewed gym activity has fuelled discussion among fans and analysts that Joshua’s boxing journey may not yet be over.
