The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commended the troops of the 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna, for their steadfastness, professionalism, and diligence in maintaining security within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Speaking during an operational visit on Thursday, General Shaibu visited frontline troops stationed across critical zones, including Shiroro, Rijau, and surrounding communities. The visit was aimed at assessing operational readiness and boosting the morale of personnel engaged in internal security operations.

Addressing the soldiers, the COAS gave a firm assurance of improved welfare packages. He noted that the Army leadership is fully aware of the challenges facing the troops, particularly regarding living conditions.

“I have been briefed on the existing challenges, especially concerning accommodation and other critical facilities intended to enhance the wellbeing of our soldiers and their families,” General Shaibu stated.

To address these gaps, the COAS directed the immediate commencement of construction and renovation projects for accommodation and essential facilities, describing the move as vital to sustaining troop morale and operational effectiveness.

Beyond welfare, Lieutenant General Shaibu charged the troops to maintain the highest standards of professionalism. He emphasized the necessity of upholding fundamental human rights in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Charter during all military engagements.

However, he maintained that the Army must remain relentless in its core mission. He urged the troops to be “firm, vigilant, and decisive” in confronting terrorists and other security threats attempting to destabilize the region.

The visit by the Army Chief underscores a renewed commitment by the Nigerian Army leadership to support frontline personnel while sustaining a proactive security posture across the nation’s volatile zones.
