The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has commenced a large-scale membership registration exercise across the 27 local government areas as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots base and consolidate party structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, flagged off this week, brought together party stakeholders, local government and ward chairmen, and supporters from nine council areas selected for the initial phase.
Speaking at the launch, the State Chairman of the ADC, James Okoroma, said the exercise reflects the party’s commitment to inclusive politics and effective democratic participation across communities in Imo State.
“This registration exercise signifies our determination to deepen the party’s presence in rural areas and promote genuine democracy through inclusive governance,” Okoroma said.
He lamented that Nigeria’s developmental progress had been hampered by misplaced priorities, stressing that the nation needs a new political direction built on integrity, empathy, and competence.
“Nigeria is not making genuine progress because the country is on the wrong developmental track,” he said. “The ADC represents a renaissance movement championed by patriotic Nigerians from all walks of life who are ready to make sacrifices for the future of our children.”
Okoroma noted that the ADC is positioned to drive a national transformation that prioritises education, healthcare, technology, security, and improved living standards for citizens.
“ADC is determined to bring about a new government that prioritises education, healthcare, technology, security, and an improved standard of living,” he stated.
The party chairman urged members to remain loyal and united, emphasising that consistency and dedication are crucial to building a credible alternative political force in the state and across the country.“We must stay steadfast and true to the ADC vision of a new political order grounded in integrity, empathy, and competence,” he added.
