Kogi Ex-Deputy Governor Hails Major Gen. Shaibu’s Appointment as Chief of Army Staff

The former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba, has congratulated Major General Waidi Shaibu on his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement he personally signed, Achuba described Shaibu’s appointment as well-deserved, praising his exemplary track record within the Nigerian Army. “Major General Shaibu brings a wealth of experience that is needed at this critical juncture in our nation’s security landscape,” he stated.

Achuba expressed confidence that Shaibu would make a significant impact on the country’s security challenges. “I have no doubt that Major General Shaibu will change the narrative regarding security in Nigeria,” he said, calling for collaboration among other service chiefs to tackle the ongoing security concerns.

The former Deputy Governor also congratulated both Kogi State and the entire nation for having a man of integrity like Shaibu rise to such a prestigious position. He further expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a leader capable of managing such a sensitive role.

“This appointment is a testament to the federal government’s commitment to building a combat-ready, disciplined, and people-focused army that can decisively address emerging security threats,” Achuba remarked.

He concluded by praying for Shaibu’s success, hoping that the new Army Chief would be blessed with wisdom and understanding to navigate and resolve Nigeria’s security challenges effectively.
