Nigerian troops have dismantled a suspected illegal arms manufacturing facility in northwestern Kebbi State, arresting two suspects during a targeted security operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit weapons.
The operation, carried out by security forces, led to the discovery of the clandestine factory, where firearms were allegedly being produced without authorisation. The two suspects taken into custody are expected to face further investigation as authorities work to determine the scale of the operation and identify possible criminal networks linked to the facility.
The raid forms part of ongoing military efforts to stem the flow of illegal arms, which security officials say continue to fuel banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across parts of northern Nigeria.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or the quantity of weapons and manufacturing equipment recovered from the site. Investigations are ongoing.
