Former Kogi State governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Olayinka Braimoh, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Saturday in Kabba, headquarters of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, where Braimoh unveiled his new political direction before party supporters and community leaders.

Explaining his defection, Braimoh said he was motivated by a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to Kogi’s development and to offer the state a credible alternative in leadership.

“With the calibre of people in the ADC, I believe this is the right platform to actualise my vision for a new Kogi State,” he said.

He criticised the state’s leadership record, lamenting years of poor management of Kogi’s abundant human and natural resources.

“Kogi has underperformed despite its vast potential and intellectual assets,” he added.

Braimoh described the ADC as a broader and more credible coalition capable of driving real progress, calling on citizens to unite and reclaim the state’s promise.

“It has been a case of the worst leading the rest of us, while the best have been sidelined. That must change,” he said.

Welcoming Braimoh and his supporters, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, the ADC’s Kogi State chairman, hailed their defection as a major boost for the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
