Barely hours before Saturday’s Osun governorship election, activities have intensified at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Irewole Local Government Area, with officials and ad-hoc staff making final preparations for the poll.
Non-sensitive electoral materials were delivered to the office early and subsequently dispatched to various polling units across the local government.
Several members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), engaged as ad-hoc election officials, were also seen departing for their assigned polling locations ahead of the election.
However, the preparations were briefly overshadowed by a protest from some ad-hoc staff who expressed concern over their reported exclusion from the exercise.
The development attracted attention at the INEC office as election officials continued with arrangements to ensure the timely deployment of personnel and materials.
With the election just hours away, security personnel and electoral officials have stepped up activities around the area, while preparations continue across Irewole ahead of Saturday’s vote.
The Osun governorship election is expected to attract voters from across the state as political parties intensify their final mobilisation efforts before polling begins.
