Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has hinted that Tosin Adarabioyo could feature in the starting lineup for their Carabao Cup third-round clash against Lincoln City at the LNER Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the match, Maresca acknowledged the importance of squad rotation but highlighted the challenges posed by recent injuries within the squad. He said, “I would love to rest [Tosin and Chalobah] because they deserve to rest,” but also noted the need for experience in certain key roles. “The problem is that we have Wes, who is only playing after a long time out. Some of them need to play,” Maresca added.

With Chelsea facing a hectic schedule and key defensive players like Levi Colwill out long-term and Wesley Fofana just returning from injury, Adarabioyo’s experience in the backline is becoming ever more crucial. The 27-year-old has already started in four of Chelsea’s six matches across all competitions this season, cementing his place as a reliable option for Maresca.
As Chelsea aims to balance squad rotation with maintaining their competitive edge, the match against Lincoln City presents an opportunity for trusted players like Adarabioyo to step up and provide defensive stability.
Maersca was quick to underline the importance of not underestimating lower-league opposition, emphasizing that Tosin’s presence in the heart of defence is key to keeping Chelsea’s momentum intact.
