A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jada Garki, has commended the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s investigation into former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration. Garki described the probe as a necessary move towards transparency and accountability, dismissing claims that it amounts to betrayal.

He said, “Every former governor or president owes the people an account of their stewardship. Taking offence at such scrutiny is unjust, and those defending that reaction are equally wrong.”

Garki was clear to note that the demand for El-Rufai to answer questions originated from the legislature, not the current governor, Uba Sani. He remarked, “This call did not come from Governor Uba Sani. It came from the Assembly, whose members belong to different political parties. Do you think lawmakers would unite just to satisfy one man’s interest? No. The issue here is the wealth of Kaduna people.”

The APC chieftain also criticised El-Rufai for what he described as hypocrisy, referencing the former governor’s controversial statements on security, including claims about operating a private security network “bigger than the police.” Garki said such declarations do not befit a former governor aiming to contribute solutions to the state’s challenges.
