The Federal Government has announced its decision to engage popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as KWAM 1, as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol. This follows a recent controversy over the musician’s conduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb (UK), disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, which outlined resolutions for a series of unruly passenger behaviors at Nigerian airports.
Keyamo said the decision came after reviewing the incidents and considering appeals from well-meaning individuals, as well as the musician’s public show of “penitence.”

As part of the resolution, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to a one-month period and withdraw its criminal complaints against him, which were previously lodged with the police. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will be responsible for leading the engagement with the musician.
The minister noted that the clemency was granted on “compassionate grounds” but warned that the government remains committed to enforcing safety and security laws in the aviation sector.

The incident in question occurred on August 5, when KWAM 1 was involved in a confrontation with airline staff and security officials while attempting to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos. He was accused of carrying a prohibited flask, allegedly containing alcohol, and obstructing the aircraft’s movement on the tarmac.
Following the incident, the NCAA initially placed him on a six-month no-fly list and filed a criminal complaint with the police, describing the act as a breach of aviation safety regulations.
