The Nigerian Air Component of Operation Fansan Yanma has neutralised scores of terrorists in a joint operation in Gwashi, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation followed a heavy gun battle between ground troops and the terrorists, which lasted over an hour.
The sources said the terrorists had engaged the troops in a heavy gun battle. Amidst the battle one guntruck was gutted by fire. However, the troops successfully subdued the insurgents.
However, the air component swiftly intervened, delivering precision airstrikes that neutralised a significant number of the assailants.
“The air force was able to neutralise scores of them, while the ground troops pursued the fleeing terrorists,” the source added.
