The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, just days after he was convicted and sentenced to 75 years’ imprisonment for diverting N33.8 billion meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.

Mamman, who had been on the run, was apprehended at approximately 3:30 am in Kaduna State. Two other individuals found shielding him at the property were also taken into custody. The house where he was arrested is currently being investigated by the Commission.

Justice Omotosho, who delivered the judgment in the corruption case, had ordered that Mamman’s sentence should begin to run from the day of his arrest. With the former minister now in custody, that term officially commences with immediate effect.
