Anambra governor cites national unity, security and shared prosperity as reasons for backing president’s re-election bid
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has declared that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will remain a political partner of President Bola Tinubu as he seeks re-election in 2027.
Soludo made the declaration on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council in Abuja, where he reaffirmed APGA’s support for the president’s second-term ambition.
The governor said the party’s continued partnership with Tinubu was informed by the president’s commitment to national unity, security and shared prosperity.
His remarks signal APGA’s readiness to maintain its political alliance with the ruling APC as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, is expected to face a fresh electoral contest as he seeks another four-year mandate.
Soludo’s declaration also underscores the growing importance of political alliances and cross-party support in shaping the battle for the presidency.
While APGA maintains its identity as a distinct political party, the governor’s remarks indicate that the relationship between the party and Tinubu’s administration remains a significant feature of the emerging political landscape.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to generate intense political activity as parties and their leaders work to consolidate support across the country.
