The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has raised concerns over the lopsided distribution of power and resources in Kogi State, alleging that the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration is dominated by a single region.
In a recent statement regarding the political direction of the state, Karimi argued that the concentration of key political appointments and developmental projects in one area has created a sense of marginalization among other ethnic groups and zones within the state.
According to the lawmaker, the lack of equity in the current governance structure is a threat to the unity of the party and the state at large.
“The APC government in Kogi State today is dominated by one region, with most key political appointments, developmental projects and opportunities concentrated in that same area,” Karimi stated.
He further noted that this exclusionary approach has left other parts of the state feeling “underserved and neglected,” a situation he believes must be corrected to ensure social justice.
Looking ahead to the next election cycle, the Senator demanded a departure from the status quo, advocating for a more balanced and representative administration that reflects the diversity of Kogi State.
“This approach has left other parts of the state feeling excluded and underserved. We want an inclusive APC government in Kogi State in 2027,” he declared.
Karimi’s remarks come amid growing conversations regarding power rotation and equitable resource distribution in the Confluence State as political stakeholders begin to strategize for the 2027 governorship transition.
