The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that former presidential candidate Peter Obi faces “woeful failure” and political retirement if he exits the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric asserted that only a united opposition stands a chance of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Primate Ayodele claimed that President Tinubu has “strong strategies” to secure a second term and predicted that the government would employ various means to ensure the opposition remains divided.
“I have warned the opposition that Tinubu is ready for them. They will use spiritual means to scatter them so they won’t be united,” Ayodele stated. “If Obi leaves ADC, he will fail. Only a united opposition can remove Tinubu; otherwise, they will all fail.”
The prophet further suggested that Obi’s political movement, while currently vocal, is losing momentum. He cautioned that those advising the former governor to seek a new platform are inadvertently destroying his career.
“They just want to finish Obi’s career by dividing him politically. Every political marriage of Obi will always end in divorce,” Ayodele said, adding that while the “Obidient” movement is loud, it would not be enough to secure the Presidency.
In a scathing critique of the broader political landscape, Ayodele described Obi as “desperate and stubborn” and slammed opposition figures for being “blindfolded” by greed and a lack of vision. He concluded by stating that Obi is “not the messiah” Nigeria needs, suggesting that another candidate better suited for the role will emerge.
