To the resilient people of Kogi West Senatorial District,
As we step into the new year, I extend my heartfelt greetings and optimism for 2026. The past year presented unique challenges for our district, particularly in the area of security, which disrupted the peace and harmony our communities are known for. We mourned the loss of loved ones to acts of violence, and my prayers remain with the families affected. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
As your representative in the Senate, I am committed to ensuring that this year brings tangible progress on key issues. High on our agenda are the critical roads—Abaji-Lokoja, Kabba-Isanlu-Egbe, and Kabba-Iyara-Omuo Ekiti—which are vital for daily commuting and with the federal government, I am confident that significant improvements will be6.
The security situation, which has been a major concern, is receiving focused efforts, including the deployment of the *Forest initiative by President Bola Tinubu combining local hunters and vigilantes—are already showing positive results. Collaboration with international partners, such as the United States, has strengthened our fight against terrorism, while the Nigerian military continues to clear bandit strongholds. Kogi West will benefit from these coordinated efforts, paving the way for safer communities.
We also take pride in the recognition of our district’s talent at the national level. The appointments of Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, as INEC Chairman, and Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, underscore President Tinubu’s trust in the capabilities of Kogi West.
With INEC set to release the 2027 electoral calendar, political engagements will intensify. I urge everyone to rally behind President Tinubu’s *Renewed Hope Agenda*, which has already delivered meaningful change across the nation. Continuity in leadership promises even greater benefits for our district.
In closing, I encourage everyone to remain hopefulighter days are ahead.
Thank you for your attention, and I wish you a prosperous and fulfilling Senator Sunday Steve Karimi**
