Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have celebrated the achievements of Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, recognizing his strategic role in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
The appreciation dinner, organized by prominent APC figures Hon. Tukur Danfulani Gusau and Hon. Sani Gwamna Mayanchi, was held on Friday at the state capital, Gusau. The event brought together party members and supporters to honor Dr. Matawalle’s efforts in combating terrorism and banditry, which have plagued the region.
During the ceremony, Dr. Matawalle was commended for his initiatives aimed at enhancing national security. In his address, the minister highlighted significant achievements under his leadership, such as reviving the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and strengthening Nigeria’s security through international partnerships, including a recent diplomatic mission to the United States.
He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing security and development, particularly in the North. Dr. Matawalle pointed to the ongoing dual-carriageway project connecting Zaria, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States as an example of the administration’s transformative agenda.
Additionally, the minister reiterated the federal government’s commitment to revitalizing the mining sector in Zamfara State, emphasizing its potential to boost the local economy. “These projects and reforms are part of our broader mission to ensure a safer and more prosperous Nigeria,” he remarked.
APC leaders Gusau and Mayanchi praised Dr. Matawalle’s dedication to public service, describing him as a steadfast leader committed to the well-being of Zamfara’s citizens. They assured him of unwavering support from party members in the state.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of loyalty from attendees, who pledged to support Dr. Matawalle’s leadership as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
