General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, has stepped straight into a Twitter storm after spilling details of a foiled coup and warnings that his own name topped the hit list.

Moses Ogwu, a user scrolling through the story online, wasn’t impressed. In a post now doing the rounds, he told the country’s top soldier to zip it.

You talk too much; you’re the Chief of Defence, not the Minister of Information,” Ogwu wrote.

Another facebook user by name Nidi  Charles wrote : “Wish that hon minister will talk less..Too much on media talking. Though minister he is not a politician whose stock in trade is taking. Not so with soldiers.”

Another use by name Ozibo Ozibo wrote “Musa is talkertive. Achieved nothing as CDS. Since he assumed office as Minister of Defense, it’s been killings and kidnappings across the country. He is just talking. Zero action.

His gripe: real-time battlefield gossip belongs behind closed doors, not on the front pages. Every fresh quote, he argued, chips away at the quiet, stone-faced image Nigerians expect from their military brass.

Musa had told reporters the plot was “a grave attempt to upend the democratic order” and that every security agency was on edge. Supporters praise the heads-up; critics say spelling out the “gravity and reach” only hands the next cabal a playbook.

Defence Headquarters hasn’t answered the online brickbats yet, but the comment threads keep spinning as Nigerians argue how much truth the public deserves—and how much should stay locked in the barracks.
