•• calls for self-reflection ahead of 2027 elections.

Apostle Johnson Suleman, Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, has expressed concerns over Nigeria’s current economic challenges, attributing them to the choices made by voters in the 2023 elections.

During the “Recovery Conference 2025” held in Bauchi State, Suleman did not shy away from addressing the implications of the electoral decisions on the nation’s welfare. Speaking to journalists after a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed, he emphasized that the hardships faced by Nigerians are, in part, a consequence of their electoral choices.

“What Nigerians are going through is partly what they deserve,” Suleman stated. “Before the election, we cried out, we screamed, we yelled. The man (President Bola Tinubu) who came into leadership had no manifesto—just a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ mantra.”

Suleman referenced Tinubu’s remarks made prior to the election, where he asserted that it was his turn to lead, coining the phrase “Emilokan,” which translates to “It is my turn.” The pastor criticized the current administration for its handling of the oil sector, claiming it has been mismanaged and warning that the repercussions could linger for years.

“The oil sector has been plundered. In the next 10 to 15 years, I don’t think Nigerians will recover from the damage. Now, all we can do is pray,” he lamented.

He urged Nigerians to reflect carefully on their voting decisions as the nation approaches the 2027 elections, warning that without sufficient suffering, there is a risk of repeating past mistakes.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who hosted Suleman, echoed these sentiments, critiquing the current administration’s policies as lacking direction. He remarked, “Tinubu’s policies don’t have a clear vision and are taking us down a path of perdition and destruction.” Mohammed emphasized the need for reforms that would have a positive national impact, expressing his respect for the presidency while calling for more effective governance.
