Governor Siminalayi Fubara has received a major political boost ahead of the 2027 general elections as the community of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has formally endorsed him for a second term.

The endorsement, announced on Tuesday, came from elders and stakeholders of Rumuepirikom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State—Wike’s hometown—signalling a significant shift in local political alignments.

Community leaders declared that their support for Fubara was driven by what they described as his “calm leadership style,” ongoing development projects, and efforts to maintain stability in the state despite recent political tensions.

According to them, the governor has demonstrated maturity and a commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to residents across all local government areas.

The endorsement is expected to further reshape the political landscape in Rivers State, where the rift between Fubara and Wike has dominated public discourse for months.

Neither Governor Fubara nor Minister Wike had issued an official reaction to the endorsement at the time of filing this report.
