Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has hosted delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Rivers State at his residence in Abuja, barely 24 hours after receiving a delegation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a similar meeting.
The back-to-back engagements have intensified political speculation about Wike’s growing influence and cross-party alliances ahead of future political contests.
Sources familiar with the meetings say the gatherings involved consultations with key stakeholders from Rivers State, though details of the discussions have not been made public. Wike, a former Rivers State governor and a prominent PDP figure, has recently drawn attention for maintaining close ties with leaders across party lines.
The development comes amid ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape, as parties reposition and build alliances following the last election cycle.
Political observers say the meetings could signal shifting loyalties and strategic calculations in Rivers State, a region long considered pivotal in Nigeria’s electoral politics.
