Senate President Godswill Akpabio has defended the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) never promised Nigerians instant solutions to the country’s economic and social challenges but instead committed to a long-term programme of reforms.

Representing President Tinubu at the inauguration of the seven-kilometre access road bypassing the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Akpabio said the government’s focus remains on delivering “structural, calculated and deliberate progress.”

“When we came into office, we did not promise you miracles that would appear from thin air. We promised you structural, calculated and deliberate progress,” he said.

According to the Senate President, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to improve the lives of Nigerians through sustainable development rather than short-term measures.

“We promised a Renewed Hope Agenda that will touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen, not just in economic statistics but also in the reality of their daily struggles,” Akpabio added.

His remarks come as the Tinubu administration continues to defend its economic reforms amid public concerns over rising living costs and inflation, arguing that the policies are intended to lay the foundation for long-term national growth and prosperity.
