Watford have turned down a £10 million bid from Burnley for highly-rated teenage forward Mamadou Doumbia, according to reports from Sky Sports News’ Anthony Joseph and Dharmesh Sheth.

The 19-year-old Malian striker has caught the eye of several Premier League and Championship sides with his recent performances, but Watford remain adamant that he is not on the market. Club sources confirmed that Doumbia remains a key part of head coach Paulo Pezzolano’s long-term plans.

“It’s understood that the Championship club do not wish to sell the Mali international,” Sky Sports reported, indicating the Hornets’ firm stance on keeping one of their brightest talents.

Negotiations are currently ongoing between Watford and Doumbia’s representatives over improved terms, signalling the club’s intention to reward the youngster with a new contract. Talks are believed to be progressing positively.

“Doumbia is very much in boss Paulo Pezzolano’s first team plans – and he wants to keep his best players,” the report added.
