Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has called on Nigerian workers to harness their collective strength to demand accountable leadership and push back against poor governance.
In a statement released on Friday to mark International Workers’ Day, Obi described workers as the “backbone of every nation,” underscoring their critical role in shaping the country’s political and economic future.
He urged citizens across sectors to use both their voices and their votes as tools for change, stressing that meaningful progress depends on electing competent and responsible leaders.
Obi’s message comes amid growing economic pressures and public dissatisfaction, with many Nigerians grappling with rising living costs and concerns over governance.
The former Anambra state governor said workers must not underestimate their influence, adding that collective action remains one of the most powerful forces for driving national transformation.
