Senior directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) convened in Kaduna on Thursday to review ongoing security operations and develop new counter-terrorism strategies aimed at tackling the evolving threats facing Nigeria.

The high-level meeting, chaired by senior regional commanders, focused on strengthening intelligence gathering, improving inter-agency collaboration, and enhancing rapid-response mechanisms across the country’s most volatile regions.

According to security sources, the session was part of a broader national security review directed by the DSS headquarters to ensure proactive and coordinated measures against rising incidents of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency.

Participants were said to have discussed recent security challenges in the North-West and North-Central regions, with an emphasis on identifying intelligence gaps and refining field operations for greater precision and efficiency.

A senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the meeting as “timely and strategic,” adding that it would “usher in a more dynamic and intelligence-driven approach to national security.”

The DSS is expected to issue an official statement outlining the outcomes of the meeting and the next phase of its counter-terrorism initiatives in the coming days.
