President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to roll out an ambitious empowerment programme aimed at lifting eight million Nigerians out of poverty by targeting beneficiaries at the grassroots.

Speaking during a citizens’ engagement in Enugu on Thursday, Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga revealed that the Renewed Hope Empowerment Scheme will provide skills training and entrepreneurship support to 1,000 people in each of Nigeria’s over 8,000 political wards.

“The President is determined to make at least eight million Nigerians wealthy through this programme,” Mr Onanuga said. “It is designed to address poverty at the ward level across the country, giving people the tools and opportunities to create wealth for themselves and their families.”

According to him, the scheme—expected to commence soon will cover diverse skills and business ventures, enabling participants to generate income and contribute to local economic growth. “We are sure it will go a long way to create wealth for the beneficiaries, with a value chain effect,” he added.

Mr Onanuga commended Enugu residents for turning out in large numbers to interact with the federal government delegation, urging continued support for President Tinubu’s vision.

“The President is committed to empowering Nigerians and making the people happy,” he assured.
