Nigeria’s Information Minister Mohammed Idris has said President Bola Tinubu remains laser-focused on tackling the country’s persistent security challenges, describing the issue as “uppermost” in the president’s mind even during the Easter holidays.
Idris made the remarks on Sunday after meeting Tinubu in Lagos, where the president is spending the Easter period.

“He just came back from Jos, and security is uppermost in his mind,” Idris told journalists. “He keeps engaging with the security agencies on how we can find a lasting solution, and collaboration with our regional and international partners to ensure that we bring lasting peace to our country.”

The minister added that Tinubu’s push for stability includes intensified talks with neighbouring countries and global allies to combat cross-border threats such as terrorism, particularly in the Sahel region.
Despite the holiday, Idris described the president’s time in Lagos as a “working Easter,” noting that security briefings and strategy discussions continue uninterrupted. He said Tinubu has urged Nigerians to unite, reflect, and show greater patriotism as efforts to resolve insecurity intensify.
The comments come as Nigeria grapples with ongoing banditry, kidnappings and insurgencies in parts of the north and central regions.

Tinubu recently visited Jos, in Plateau State, an area frequently hit by communal violence and attacks.
Idris also hinted that broader governance issues, including media sector concerns, were discussed during the meeting, but stressed that national security remains the administration’s overriding priority.
