Tinubu Swears in Abel Enitan as New Head of Civil Service

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF).

Mr Enitan took the oath of office during a brief ceremony at the State House, where he formally assumed responsibility for overseeing Nigeria’s federal civil service.

He succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

A native of Osun State, Mr Enitan is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, building extensive experience across several key government institutions.

Before his appointment as Head of Service, Mr Enitan served at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice-President and the Federal Ministry of Education.

Born on 12 December 1966, the new HCSF brings decades of experience in public administration to the position at a time when the federal government is seeking to strengthen efficiency, accountability and professionalism across the civil service.

His appointment places him at the helm of Nigeria’s federal administrative machinery, with responsibility for driving reforms and coordinating the implementation of government policies across the public service.
